The Earth Rover captured this image after an arduous nine month trip up the side of a mountain in the southern hemisphere of earth. Moving at no more than twenty-five feet a day for safety reasons, the rover finally managed to reach this valley between the slope of two ancient pyroclastic flows. Soil samples indicate that this valley was covered by glaciers hundreds of feet thick as recently as the 19th century, since retreated far up the side of the mountain.
